Top 3 Reasons to Hire a Newborn Photographer | Boston Newborn Photographer
If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you’re expecting a baby. Congratulations! You might be thinking, “I have years to photograph my child, why would I hire someone to take pictures in the first few months?” or “I have the newest iPhone and it takes great photos in portrait mode.” While these thoughts are true, here are some reasons why you definitely want to hire a newborn photographer anyway!
1. You won’t remember your baby as a newborn.
I typically think of newborns as 8 weeks old or younger. If you know anything about babies this age, it’s that they have absolutely no schedule and don’t let you get much sleep. You’re guaranteed to be overtired and overwhelmed by this amazing new person in your life, and it’s so challenging to take in all the details about them when you feel that way. Having a professional document tiny fingers and toes, wrinkly little foreheads, and fresh newborn hair will assure that you will keep those memories forever.
2. It’s really hard to take good cell phone pictures of infants indoors.
I don’t know about you, but I have a really hard time taking indoor photos on my cell phone with good lighting, even with years of experience working with a variety of lighting situations. In order to get photos that look the way you want, you’d have to spend tons of time (time you probably don’t have if you have a baby) researching how to best light and pose your baby. As a professional, I can walk into your house and find the best light quickly, saving you lots of time and energy. Also, most people rarely have cell phone photos that are high quality enough to blow up and hang on the wall.
3. You should be in the pictures!
How often do you see parents in photos with their kids? There’s a reason that the phrase “Proof of Mom” exists. I promise, you will want photos of yourself with your newborn. You are the most important person in the whole world to that baby. Someday they’ll be flipping through photos from their childhood, and wonder why there are so few photos of you with them. Get in those photos! Even if you don’t feel great about how you look, I promise you will want photos with you in them. Your children and grandchildren will be so grateful to have those memories to look back on, with you included!
